Ludicorper to Speak at Upcoming O'Reilly Emerging Technology Conference

Ludicorp Founder and President Stewart Butterfield has been invited to speak at the O'Reilly Emerging Technology Conference, April 22-25, at the Westin Santa Clara, Santa Clara, CA. This year's conference will be on the subjects of Rich Internet Applications, Social Software, Biological Models of Computing and Digital Rights.

Past speakers and attendees of the conference have included such luminaries as Lawrence Lessig, Stanford Law Professor and author of The Future of Ideas, Brewster Kahle, founder of the Internet Archive, Rick Rashid, head of Microsoft Research, and Jeff Bezos, founder and CEO of Amazon.com.

Butterfield will be speaking in the social software track on the following topic:

The Game Context as a Testing Ground for Social Software
Designers of social software can learn a lot by looking at how reputation systems, contact management, relationship/transaction brokering and group communication are implemented in massively multiplayer games. The game context allows a level of experimentation that is often too risky or too difficult in "real life". This session will reflect on the experiences gained the design, development and testing of a second generation MMOG and what they suggest for the design of social software generally.

Conference registration will be open in January 2003.
