Ludicorp is pleased to announce another stellar addition to its board, Dick Hardt, a well known figure and proponent of the Vancouver technology community.
Dick is a recognized industry leader in open source software and online communities. In 1994 Dick founded hip communications where he led the port of Perl 5 to the Windows platform. In late 1996, hip was acquired and in 1997 Dick founded ActiveState with O'Reilly and Associates which quickly became the leading vendor for Perl. ActiveState soon dominated the open source languages market with the addition of Tcl and Python. Dick evolved a Perl based programming product into PureMessage, a leading enterprise anti-spam product that led to the sale of the ActiveState to Sophos in the fall of 2003.
He has been on the board of the BC Technology Industries Association since 1998 and exercises his philanthropic spirit as a partner in the BC Technology Social Venture Partners. Dick is currently undertaking his next start-up project, Sxip Networks, which is developing yet-to-be announced digital identity management technologies. He is also a Ludicorp investor.
We anticipate that Dick will become a valuable member of our team and look forward to working with him. Welcome aboard, Dick!
