Photostreams is a new way to share photos on Flickr. All the photos Flickr users upload go into their Photostream.
What makes photostreams so innovative is that all photos that are uploaded to Flickr go into a user's photostream, and they are displayed to different audiences depending on their relationship to the user. That means that a good friend could see different photos than a stranger just browsing the web. And the user can archive photos that are not visible to anyone, but that can be shared in FlickrLive. This allows for a more personalized experience, in both the display and viewing of photos.
Many other features have been added to Flickr since its launch into public beta. For example, you can now post photos directrly from Flickr into virtually any blog from Flickr (LiveJournal, Blogger, Movable Type, Typepad, and any Atom-enabled blogs, making it significantly more flexible than other photo sites. And Flickr provides an open API so that users can build their own applications on top of a user's existing social network.
With the release of photostreams, Flickr moves into preview release 3 of its public beta. Flickr expects to be out of beta and in full public launch this coming summer.
