Flickr adds Notes and Tags

Flickr has announced Notes and Tags in its latest beta release, two innovative features that make photo management easier than ever before.

Notes add the ability to annotate photographs by selecting a region of the photograph and adding text. Notes can be added by a photo's owner, and, if the owner has specified, by the owner's friends. It is useful for providing the names of the people in the photo, or adding information about what is happening.

Tags are simple labels that can be added to photographs as they are uploaded as a group, or to each photo individually. These make searching photos effortless. Here is, for example, a page showing all the public photos that have been tagged with the name dospesos, the name of a small (cute!) dog.
